Time to party! And there’s no party like a Gargoyles party, because a Gargoyles party has conspiracies and fights. It’s Halloween, and neither the clan, House Xanatos, nor the Illuminati is going to let it go to waste. Everyone’s wearing a mask, and they’re more than skin deep.

This is chapter 3, “Invitation Only.” We’re finally in the truly new and canon part of the comics. Here is where you’ll see the comics diverge from the Goliath Chronicles – for the better, I might add.

The Quarrymen continue to hunt Goliath and Elisa. Meanwhile, Macbeth and ADA Margot argue over the gargoyles while on live TV. And in the Eyrie Building, House Xanatos and the gargoyles are adjusting to living with each other. We’re reviewing the second comic in the series.

The TV series might be over, but we still have the comics! They start up on the first episode of The Goliath Chronicles, The Journey. But after this, the story takes a whole new direction.

It’s the final half of the final episode of Gargoyles. The Greg-approved part of the series, that is. The Quarrymen are closing in on Goliath and Elisa. After taking a bullet to the wing, Goliath is reduced to climbing and jumping. Can he escape the vengeance-fueled John Castaway? This is episode 1 of the Goliath Chronicles. It’s the only episode of TGC I’m going to review, because really it’s the only one that follows cannon. The gargoyles are slowly adjusting to their new life under House Xanatos’s roof, but the populace of New York is not about to adjust to the idea of gargoyles existing. Jon Canmore takes advantage of this, forming the Quarrymen, a homicidal group bent on killing the gargoyles. It’s basically a scene-for-scene, shot-for-shot, word-for-word play of the first two SLG (Slave Labor Graphics) comics.

Demona is about to perform the ritual that will magically bond the CV 1000 virus to the chemical D/I-7. The sorcery will turn this into a plague that will destroy all of humanity. The Hunters aren’t about to let her commit genocide, however. But when the clan shows up, the Hunters have more on their plate than they bargained for. Will their feud and lust for vengeance give Demona the advantage she needs to wipe out humans once and for all?

The Hunters destroy the clock tower, but the gargoyles survive. Elisa unmasks Jason, the Hunter. The stage is set for a battle of revenge, but when Elisa tries to intervene, the situation takes a turn for the worse. Will Elisa survive? More importantly, will humanity survive Demona’s latest plot?

Goliath is dead-set on vengeance against the Hunters. He’s about to have an unexpected ally in that quest: Demona. But is even her help enough against these determined foes? What will be the price for their attack on the Hunters? It may be too rich for the clan’s blood when the blood of others flows.

Revenge may be a dish best served cold, but no matter what temperature it is, it tastes good. For a minute, then it turns sour. But Goliath is willing to take that risk in order to avenge his daughter Angela, whom the Hunters attacked. In the meantime, Elisa is deepening her bond with her new partner Jason. On the opposite end of the vengeance spectrum, House Xanatos offers its assistance to Elisa and the gargoyles.
