Gargoyles: Avalon Part 3 – Episode Review Continued

The villains have assembled their forces. So have the protagonists. King Arthur is on the gargoyles’ side, but he lacks Excalibur, his knights, and Merlin. Will his warrior skills hold true after 1000+ years of enchanted sleep? He’ll be facing Demona and Macbeth, warriors who have been honing their skills for those 1000+ years. The Weird Sisters are also going to battle; they’ll face Magus, who lost the Grimorum and his magic decades ago. To top things off, the Archmage will be using all the power of the Grimorum Arcanorum, Phoenix Gate, and Eye of Odin to fight Goliath. It’s going to take real skill on the antagonists’ part to lose this game.

Gargoyles: Avalon Part 2 – Episode Review

Who says you can’t go back in time and save someone’s life? You can if it’s meant to be in the time stream. You can even save your own life! The Archmage pitched off a cliff in 984 AD, but thanks to magic and covering himself adequately regarding the time stream’s laws, he’s back and more powerful than ever in 1995. This episode is a mind bender! It’s also the setup for how and why the Archmage is terrorizing Avalon’s residents: Katherine, Magus, and 36 gargoyles. The mage wants ultimate power and revenge, and he won’t stop until he gets them.

Gargoyles: The Price – Episode Review Continued

While Macbeth distracts the clan from what they think is an ensorcelled statue of Hudson, the real Hudson is verbally sparring with Xanatos from behind electrified bars. Xanatos is using the magical Cauldron of Life to cook up a brew, which includes a piece of stone skin from a gargoyle, that will grant immortality. Hudson argues that immortality has a high price, one that Macbeth and Demona are paying. Xanatos knows that death and old age have a price as well, and it’s too expensive. In the end, his desire for immortality will cause an unlikely person to pay a high price.

Gargoyles: The Price – Episode Review

Macbeth is back, and he’s on the hunt for trophies. Specifically, gargoyles. When his magic keeps Hudson from awakening from his stone sleep at sunset, the clan is left to find a solution. But it’s all a distraction for the real action: Xanatos has kidnapped Hudson. David wants Hudson’s skin. Why? It’s an ingredient in a magic brew that, according to the legend, will make whoever bathes in it “live as long as the mountain’s stones.” After all, what good are all the riches in the world – which Xanatos essentially has – if you die?

Gargoyles: City of Stone part 4 – Episode Review Continued

Demona and Macbeth died in 1057 AD. Briefly. Via the Weird Sisters’ magic, both will live until one kills the other. Now 900 years later, Macbeth is at the end of his rope. Life damages the living – even the immortal. He wants to rest, and that will require him killing Demona. She, however, has other plans, such as destroying humanity.

Meanwhile, Team Xanatos and the gargoyles are in mortal danger. In order to save themselves and New York City, they’ll have to get Demona to cooperate. Like getting blood from a stone, you say? Not if you turn the stone to flesh first. It will take super-human, gargoyle, and natural effort, though.
